>When transfering my electricity bill from my old apartment to my new apartment I didn’t do it in a timely manner. We had to pay $10 per day that we had the new keys and the day the electricity was transfered.
It was 4 day, which translates to $4o.
>This Monday, started off with a bang. On my way into work I was pulled over by a grumpy (at least that is what I think) police officer. We went through the normal drill of license and insurance. He went back to the car for what seemed like forever. I have been pulled over before, but never has it taken so long. Mr. Policeman comes back to my window for my signature on not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 tickets. He gave me a ticket for speeding, not using a signal, out of state plates and out of state license. Really, did he need to do all that!?!?
I don’t know how much this will set me back, but it is annoying.

As you already know, my brother is living with me. Before he move across country to my city, he got rid of all his belongings. He arrived only with what could fit in his car.
Over the past few months he started school and worked on getting his money under control. Last week he got he was so excited to get his income tax check. Like most people he had a list a mile long. On the top of that list was to get a bed and bedding.
His current feeling is that he needs to have the best, which means brand name and/or most expensive. I was able to talk him into getting the $700 bed instead of the $1000, but I was not able to convince him that he could get quality bedding at TJ Maxx or Ross. I know this because I have dug trough the piles of linens that laid on the floor a time or two. He on the other had was willing to pay top dollar for the convenience of not having to dig.
Yesturday, he brought home a very nice comforter that cost about $160 from Bed, Bath & Beyond. The first thing he did was put it in the washer, which was too small. The blanket got caught and ripped around the edges. I saw this and told him why it happen and not to put the blanket in the dryer. Once again, I know this is a bad idea from experience. Today, I talked to him at work and asked if he took it to the laundry mat. Of course he said “No, it is in the apartment dryer”. I told him that it is going to be ruined and the filling will melt in areas. I WAS RIGHT.
Now he is out $160 and is frustrated because all he wanted was something new and nice. If he would have dug through the pile, he would have the money to go get a new comforter. Now, he has to settle for his old one.
He showed me the mess when I got home and told me he was throwing it away. What a shame!
Have you ever spent really, really good money on something and then ruined it by doing something so simple?
>Today, I realized that I paid about $60 in stupid tax when I purchased the lastest copy of Quicken. Before I purchased the software, I searched my apartment for old copies of the software, which after a few day I thought I had put in the donation bag for Goodwill.
In a drawer where I keep my printer paper I found my old copy of Microsoft Money and when I opened the case I found my old copy of Quicken.
Luckily, I was able to install the old Quicken on my brothers computer. Hopefully, it iwll be useful. I will consider my stupid tax cut in half.
>Thanksgiving was spent with my family and we had a decent time. Right, before I left to go home I paid some bills and did some holiday shopping. Everything was good until I checked my bank accounts. In all my calculations I made a timing and math error. Both of my checking account overdrafted…YIKES. This cost me a total of $65 in stupid tax.
When things like this happen it makes me aggrevated and I just want to stop trying so hard to manage my money. In the end I know that is not the right decision, unless I want to be broke forever.
There is one more paycheck in 2009 and I can’t wait for it to come. There are going to be some changes in 2010.
