Bringing your lunch is for everyone!!!!!

Steadman just said that Oprah brings her lunch to work everyday. So if you bring your lunch you are in good company. It isn’t only for those of us who are agressively trying to return our networth to zero and prepare to grow from there. It is for everyone including one of the wealthiest women we know.

Sure she may have a chef, but she still brings her lunch.

MAY Wrap-Up

May isn’t over, but my month is now that my paycheck has been allocated.

CREDIT SCORE (http://www.creditkarma.com/)
I am not to concerned with my score, but it is something interesting to follow.

  • My credit score is a 693 (increase 86 points since last month)
My guess is this happened because I had to qualify for a USAA credit card in order to sign up for their deposit service.
  • My grade is a C (fair)

  • Assets are high this month because I have been stashing money aside when I found out that there was a possibility of losing my job. After taking to HR, I found out that is not the case. The money will be used to pay on my student loan.

  • Giving was up because my mom asked me to support some walk she is doing, but she hasn’t given me the information so I don’t know the cause.
  • Sinking funds have been seperated from savings, so we can see what part of my paycheck is going to lump sum payments throughout the year. About $236 goes to my business.
  • Food & Gas are down because I didn’t spend on these things for the week that I was in Egypt.
  • Medical/Health is low because I budget for a doctor’s appointment twice since I had to reschedule
  • Personal is up because two friends from college are coming to visit.I Increased my blow money. JGS is running a half-marathon with me and DSP is just coming for fun. This will be the farthest west that DSP has ever been in the US.
  • Recreation is high, but I am being reimbursed for $258.
  • Other: Bought a new external hard drive.
  • Debt: not much left to say.

First Quater 2011

It is hard to believe that the first quarter of 2011 has come and gone. I wanted to be able to have charts and graphs to show progress, but if I wait I don’t think this post will be completed. In stead of the charts I will provide some good info.

ASSETS: $4094.36
LIABILITIES: $47153.35
NETWORTH: $44624.14

  • It is crazy to know I have $4000 in my savings account. $1000 is my eFund and the rest are for sinking funds (car insurance, renters insurance, life insurance, Christmas fund, travel fund, cell phone replacement)
  • FEB: My business was started with no debt. Extra income can now be put towards aggressively paying off debt.
  • MAR: A poor performance review has lead me to the decision to put the extra income in a savings account just in case I find myself in a really bad spot in the next few months.
  • My 401K has increase 24% in the past year. To bad there isn’t much money in there and it is just recovering from the big drop.
  • I took time off from dance, but will return the first full week in April.
  • I attended Janet Jackson’s concert out of town. (Birthday Gift)
  • I received $85 to go towards a car detailing package for my birthday.

Enjoy the second quarter and I will fun charts next time.

>October 2010 Wrap-Up

>CREDIT SCORE (http://www.creditkarma.com/)
I am not to concerned with my score, but it is something interesting to follow.

  • My credit score is a 674 (no change)
  • My grade is a C

NETWORTH (www.networthiq.com/ifiwereawealthygirl)

  • October was full of changes. Unfortunatly, I was moving money all around for different things. I reset my sinking funds to zero and will refill them to where they need to be as money permits. This month I was able to put $212.94 of the $500 I had budgeted for Christmas. My plan is to have all sinking funds squared away in November.
  • Overall my networth decrease as a result of less cash on hand and depreciation of my car.
  • Debt payments are scheduled to pick up in November. (more details to follow)

BUDGET

  • GIVING: Back to normal 10% of gross (14% net)
  • SAVINGS: Nothing big to report, execpt that alot of money has been moving around to different savings account.
  • HOUSING: Paying for things in new and old apartment
  • UTILITIES: Paying for things in new and old apartment
  • TRANSPORTATION: Is high, because I paid 6-months of insurance this month
  • CLOTHING: I decided not to purchase the material for my cosutme this month. Instead I have asked for a gift certificate for Christmas.
  • PERSONAL: Currently my Christmas fund is in this category and I made a $212.94 deposit to this account..
  • DEBT: Is low, but changes are coming in November.

On another note…I will be rearranging my budget template to account for money going to sinking funds in the savings category. When I use the money I will add it back into the budget as income so that I am not double dipping on my budget based calculations in the future. At the end of the year this should balance out and hopefully make things easier for me.

>September 2010 Wrap-Up

>WOW…I can’t believe September is over.

CREDIT SCORE (http://www.creditkarma.com/)
I am not to concerned with my score, but it is something interesting to follow.

  • My credit score is a 674 (up from 671 in Dec 2009)
  • My grade is a C

NETWORTH

  • There was a small change in my debt and a decrease in my cash on hand this month. Next month I hope to include the change detail in my calculations.

BUDGET
Soooo much to say about this months budget.

  • I found a calculation error that resulted negative consequences. I just found it today, but it expains the overdraft that happened in my account. When it happened I was to tired to figure out where I went wrong. $35 of the $40 error was eaten up by the fee. I have checked October’s budget for errors.
  • GIVING: I gave an extra $15 to attend a one time charity event to support a friend.
  • SAVINGS: This is super high because I am putting aside money for my upcoming move. I think $1000 should be cover everything. Money should be left over.
  • TRANSPORTATION: Is a low because I budgeted too much for my tires.
  • CLOTHING: I passed on clothing this month to take a lump sum in a future month.
  • MEDICAL/HEALTH: I met my deductible, so my my co-pay is cheaper than what I had been paying.
  • PERSONAL: I forgot to budget in money for a wedding gift. I didn’t even use it for the gift. I got a dress and shoes for the wedding in addition to a couple of pieces for the gift. (I will post pictures of my outfit that I got an amazing deal on.)
  • OTHER: This is high because I transfered money to another account to complete my fundraising. In the future I will receive a refund for this money.
  • DEBT: All comments above lead to me being under budget this month.

Your Thoughts?!?!

>Networth (08/30/10)

>My networth is moving in the right direction.

  • Big Purch. Fund: I purchased my plane ticket to the middle east for about $1400 and paid for my visa application, so the fund is almost depleted. $150 of the fund is going towards a traditional dress to be worn to the wedding and the rest will be used to get me to JFK and bring gifts to the family. Oh…i just remember I have to get a place to stay. This may be a set back.
  • Student Loans: I finally broke the $50,000 mark. WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

NetworthIQ is down so I am unable to capture the graph. Will post when the sight is up and running.

I just created my own graph.

>NETWORTH COMMENTS:

  • My “big purchase” fund is just about where I need it to be to by that international plane ticket. My feelings will be hurt when I make that purchase, but at least it is not on credit.
  • My efund will be $1000 on Aug 3.
  • Medical/health is negative because I had to make a purchase that I had not saved all the money for. This will be caught up on Aug 3.
  • I am thinking of creating a new graph for my networth. I am not a fan of the on on networthiq.com

>Networth (06/27/10)

>JULY is only a few days away, so here is my beginning networth.

  • Emergency Fund: I need to bring this up to an even $1000. The transaction is scheduled for payday.
  • Big Purchase Savings: In December I will be doing some international traveling, so I am saving up for the pricy plane ticket. I don’t expect to be spending alot of money since I will be in a country where things are fairly cheap.

>Networth (05/31/10)

>My overall networth decreased this month because my car depreciated more than my debt decreased. Normally, I do not have a line item for big purchase a couple coming up that will be my focus over the comming months. Once these are out of the way I will return to agressively paying my student loan.
