About

Me in July 2011…

…This year I am going to provide more personal info in this section. I am a 30 year old young professional living in the midwest working for a Fortune 500 company in a supply chain managment position.  I have been with my company for 4 years and now I am looking at other options.  This year I started two businesses 1) a financial coaching company in March and 2) a sweet treat company in July. Both companies are debt free and very much in the start-up phase. When I am not working, I like to train for half-marathons, take dance classes, read, spend time with friends and family and go to the dollar theater. I am not married, but I do have BF. Our views on money clash all the time, mainly because he has big money dreams and not plans.

To see how far I have come in my Total Money Makeover, you can check out the Progress Report tab.

Here’s to another great year of ups and downs and more ups!

In July 2010…

…I am a single 29 year old young professional. I have been held various supply chain related positions in corporate America for the past 3 years. I am also celebrating my 3rd TMMO Anniversary (TMMO=Total Money Makeover). Over the past 3 years I paid off about $65,000 of my debt using the principles that Dave Ramsey teaches.

During this 3 year period I did not stop living, but I did make my fair share of sacrifices. I went on a couple of cruises, traveled internationally, hung out with friends, bought new stuff and enjoyed every minute of it. All this was in the budget, because I put it there. Some sacrifices include turning down dinner invitations, order appetizers instead of full meals, working a second job, stop lending money to others, etc.

I hope you continue to follow my journey into year 4. It started as a journey to get out of debt, but now it is about build a solid financial foundation for myself (and future family).

I am so excited!!!!!!!

Once upon a time in May 2007…

…I was a single, 26 year old graduating from my MBA program and preparing to start a “real” job make $70,000. This was more money then I ever thought I would make. The job and paycheck didn’t start for another 2 months, so I went on vacation in my brand new car and Discover Card.

In July 2007, work started so I decided to make a plan for my money. I had it all figured out until I read “Total Money Makeover” by Dave Ramsey. I read the book in a week and ran the numbers in excel to find that I could pay off my debt in 5 years. This was alot better than the original 30 years offered by the student loan company.

I signed up for Financial Peace University in my area and decide I will try this for one year. If it works I will keep using it…it worked!

This blog was started in November of 2009 when I discovered personal finance blogs. My goal is to chronicle my journey through the 7 baby steps:

STEP 01: Small Emergency Fund

STEP 02: Pay Off Debt

  • Credit Cards: $19,000
  • Car Loan: $32,000
  • Student Loans: $54,000

STEP 03: Large Emergency Fund

STEP 04: Maximize Retirement (15% of income)

STEP 05: College Funding (I am done with this, since I have no kids)

STEP 06: Pay off the mortgage (I am done with his, since I don’ t have a home)

STEP 07: Live & Give like noone else. Build wealth like crazy!
